Film Transfer

Introduction

The Video Transfer Page allows users to import videos from supported platforms directly into WatchGameFilm (WGF). This feature streamlines the process of adding your films to WatchGameFilm while also adding flexibility if you have your videos on supported platforms. A major advantage of using film transfer is that videos become viewable for the team in WGF significantly faster than directly uploading a film, reducing the time it takes to get your film into WGF and view it to nearly instant!

Supported Platforms

Currently, users can transfer videos from the following platforms:

• Google Drive
• YouTube
• Hudl
• Veo
• Coming in the future: Dropbox, NFHS Network, and Pixelot

Step 1: Selecting the Video Source

1. Navigate to Film > Transfer Film in WatchGameFilm.
2. Select the source platform from the Transfer From dropdown menu.
3. Enter the Video URL of the film you wish to transfer.
   • Important: The video link must be publicly accessible (i.e., does not require sign-in). Private or restricted videos cannot be transferred. Nor can playlists url/links on YouTube be transferred.
4. Click Next to proceed.

Step 2: Setting Film Details

1. Enter a Title for the film in WatchGameFilm.
   • This will be the display name for the video in WGF and does not have to match the original video’s name.
2. Select a Group to categorize the film.
   • Available options include Game, Practice, Training, and more.
3. (Optional) Add Tags to help organize and search for the film later.
4. Set the Event Date to reflect when the footage was recorded.
5. Click Next to proceed.

Step 3: Confirming and Finalizing Transfer

1. Review the video details displayed on the confirmation screen:
   • Transfer From: The selected source platform.
   • Video Name: The original title of the video (when applicable).
   • Video URL: The link to the source video.
   • Duration: The length of the video (if available).
   • Film Title: The new name entered for WGF.
   • Film Group: The selected category.
   • Film Tags: Any additional tags entered.
2. Verify the details to ensure accuracy.
3. Click Transfer Film to begin the import process.

Important Notes

• Public Access Requirement: If a video is private or requires login to access, the transfer will fail.
• Metadata Extraction: WGF automatically pulls details from the source video when applicable.
• Processing Time: Transfer time may vary depending on the source platform and video length.
